Sheevy’s Bed and Breakfast is a family run guest house situated in one of Fort Portal’s green suburbs called Kasusu. Situated just a 10 minute drive away from the Central Business District, the bed and breakfast is a perfect place to relax surrounded by beautiful lush gardens and a quiet ambiance. The lush gardens are arguably the best part of the guest house with lush green plants and colorful flowers that attract sun birds. Sheevy’s Bed and Breakfast is a perfect base for visitors to Fort Portal who are looking for a quiet place to stay that is not busy like the big chain hotels and one that will offer you a homely feeling.
The Bed and Breakfast is located close to major attractions like the Omukama Palace which is the King’s Palace and Amabere ga Nyina mwiru Caves which is a popular cultural site. The bed and breakfast feature 5 rooms in total, since the guest house is family run their goal is to create a space that offers one a feeling of being in a home like environment. The rooms accommodate a select number of guests per day so you will feel like you have the place all to yourself, no influx of guests at a time. The rooms are elegantly arranged with all the key amenities for a comfortable stay. The rooms accommodate single, double or twin occupancy.
Each room at Sheevy’s Bed and Breakfast features;
A large wooden King sized bed with clean linen white bed sheets, a duvet and a mosquito net that hangs from the wooden bed poster.
An En-suite bathroom with clean towels, a shower, a flush toilet, shampoo, shower gel, toilet paper and bathing soap.

PS: Sheevy’s Bed and Breakfast has one twin room with a bathroom located just outside the room. The twin room’s bathroom is only for the guests in the twin room.
Facilities and Services
Being a bed and breakfast the facilities and services offered are limited and just enough to make one’s stay comfortable.
The guest house offers services like daily housekeeping, guests who prefer not to have someone enter their rooms daily are also respected you just have to communicate with the receptionist/manager.
The guest house offers a buffet breakfast that is mostly served in the gardens. The gardens are really beautiful so most guests prefer to have their breakfast in the gardens. There are enough seats and the gardens are divided into two sections so the staff set up for you wherever you prefer. Breakfast at Sheevy’s Bed and Breakfast includes eggs, sausages, bread, fruits, juice, black tea, milk tea, pancakes, gonja and “Katogo” which is a local breakfast meal made with green bananas and sauce. The kitchen switches up the breakfast with tasty options so for example if you have sausages on Day 1 you will have pancakes on day 2.
For lunch and dinner Sheevy’s bed and breakfast partners with restaurants in the city like Dutchess Hotel and Garden’s Restaurant to deliver meals to guests. The guest house has the restaurant menus on the premises so all you have to do is order and the restaurant manages the delivery of the food.
Other services at Sheevy’s bed and breakfast include a car parking area that accommodates approximately 6 cars, security and Wi-Fi. The guest house also has a main lounge area that also has a dining area. Guest can relax in the lounge and if they would like to dine indoors a dining table with chairs is available.
Attractions and Activities
One might wonder what activities to engage in while on a visit to Fort Portal or staying at Sheevy’s Bed and Breakfast. Below are activities you can consider;
Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest – A chimpanzee trek is a great choice for the visitor who would like to come close to these amazing primates. The chimpanzee trekking adventure begins at Kanyanchu visitor centre in Kibale Forest National Park which is 40 minutes away from Sheevy’s Bed and Breakfast. Your tour operator will arrange the tour for you and have the driver guide pick you up and drop you off at the guest house at the end of the day.
Game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park – The Park is a two and a half hour drive away from Fort Portal and is great for an up close experience with wildlife in the wild. Game drives in the park will have you looking out for lions, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, Elephants, water bucks, spotted hyena, olive baboons and vervet monkeys. While here you can also go on the Kazinga Channel Boat ride. The Park is best explored on a 3 Days Safari.
Kasenda Crater Lakes – The crater lakes are located approximately 20-30 km south of Fort Portal. The lakes have stunning views from the top and a hike up to see the crater lakes from the top is worth it. The crater lakes include Lake Nkuruba, Lake Nyabikere, Lake Kifuruka and Lake Nyinambuga. The crater lakes with their very steep walls and forested surroundings offer great photo moments and are best visited on a day tour.
Birding Semuliki National Park – Birding in Uganda is a rewarding activity for the keen birding enthusiast and Semuliki National Park is a top birding destination. Semuliki is mainly visited to look for the 35 Guinea-Congo forest biome bird species which are only found in this park and nowhere else in East Africa. Bird species to look out for in the park while on a birding safari include Yellow-throated cuckoo, Brown-eared woodpecker, White-crested Hornbill, Yellow-throated nicator, Red-Tailed Greenbull, African crake, Abyssinian Ground hornbill among others.
Fort Portal City Tour – A 1 day Fort Portal City tour is a great way to explore the town and visit the main attractions within the city. Places that you visit on the day tour include the “Omukama Palace” which is the King’s place, the Empaako monument, two local markets for an experience of the local life, River Mpanga, Gerald Portal monument and have lunch at a local food restaurant.
Tooro Botanical Gardens – A visit to Tooro Botanical Gardens is one of the easiest activities to do while staying at the guest house. The Botanical gardens are located in Booma and a 15 minute drive away from Sheevy’s Bed and Breakfast. On arrival you can take a forest walk through the gardens, and do some birding as you also see different types of trees. Tooro Botanical Gardens is a bio-diversity hub and is one of the largest tree nurseries in Uganda, over 117 indigenous trees are found at the botanical gardens and a variety of plant species.

You drive from Fort Portal town and right before you get to Kasusu trading center you see a blue sign post on your left of Sheevy’s Bed and Breakfast.
