Nyungwe National Park Fees 2026

Nyungwe National Park is one of Rwanda’s iconic national parks well known for the chimpanzee trek and the Nyungwe canopy walk. Located in southwestern Rwanda, the park is home to 13 primate species.

Nyungwe Forest is a bio-diverse habitat for a number of bird species, wildlife, plants and trees. Nyungwe is the oldest rain forest in Africa making the park one of the best places to visit in Rwanda. Nyungwe can easily accessed by road from Kigali city on a smooth paved road.

One of the questions one might have when they decide to visit Nyungwe is how much do the entrance fees cost for Nyungwe, below we break down the entry fees costs for Nyungwe Forest National Park;

Guidelines

Guides and porters

  • ½ day activity: Guides and porters are picked from the reception before 9:00am and returned to the same reception (where possible) within five hours.
  • Full day activity: Guides and porters are picked up from reception 9am, unless the guide is returned before midday.
  • Additional fee of 15,000 Rwf is applied for the guides and porter’s accommodation and food for up to 3 nights on multi-day walking trails.
  • Any supplement nights will command a top up of 5000 Rwf per extra night.
  • Tourist-Guide ratio: 8 tourists per guide to ensure the safety of guests but also ensure the information shared by the guide can be absorbed and heard by all.

Park entry fee

  • The entry fee covers all nature walk trails including waterfalls except trails that take more than one day.
  • The entry fee is payable by all day visitors as well as by overnight visitors.
  • The fee reduces by 50% for the second and third nights and then free for any subsequent nights for up to one week.
  • Visitors staying outside the park are considered day visitors (unless staying in approved hospitality entity that the park has a signed agreement with) and will be required to pay the entry fee for the day they enter the park).

Nationals and Resident in Rwanda/EAC

  • Residency status – To be verified with documentation, or international visitor fees may be charged.
  • Groups discount – 20% discount off the normal entry fee of more than 20 people or both nationals and residents.

Children

  • 5 years and below: Free of charge
  • Between 6 and 12 years old: Activity fees rate for children apply
  • 13 years and above: Pay adult rates for entry fees and activities.

Night walks

  • Night walks: from 5:30 pm to 8:00 or 9:00pm. Guides are available at the designated reception.
  • Specialized head lamps and torches are offered at the reception.

Annual pass

  • Annual pass: Single, couple and family passes are offered.
  • It includes entry permits except park special activities.
  • 10% discount on park activities.

Tents and other camping equipment

  • Tent hire does not include any bedding or camping equipment.
  • You can bring your own camping equipment. Beverages and food are sold at the park coffee shops.
