This 2 days wildlife safari in Akagera National Park offers incredible sightings of wildlife and offers you a chance to spend time in one of Africa’s most scenic parks.

Akagera National Park is located in the North Eastern Rwanda bordering with Tanzania and is well known for its stunning views. The park has an abundance of wildlife and is home to the African Big Five animals that include Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant and Rhino. Lions from South Africa and 18 black rhinos were recently re-introduced in to the park hence game drives offer you a chance to watch these animals. Other animals in the park include zebras, topi, eland, roan antelope, sitatunga, warthogs, giraffes, impala, klipspringer, oribi, bohor reed buck, defassa water buck and bush buck. This safari will offer you a game drive in the park and a boat ride on Lake Ihema.

Tour Plan

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and Travel to Akagera National Park

You will be picked up from your hotel in Kigali by your driver guide early this morning. You then start the journey to Akagera National Park. The drive to the park is a scenic drive that takes you through the landscape of Rwanda and the beautiful scenery of the country side. On arrival at the park you will go on a game drive in the park where you look out for wildlife including giraffes, olive baboons, reedbuck, impala and rhinos among other animals. After the introductory game drive to Akagera national park you will head to your lodge check in and then have much. In the afternoon you go on a boat ride on Lake Ihema which is the largest water body in the park. The boat ride offers an opportunity to look out for hippos, crocodiles, elephants and water birds. In addition the boat ride offers a relaxing experience as you take in the breeze of Lake Ihema and are treated to scenic views of Akagera National Park. Lake Ihema is a water source for animals as they converge to quench their thirst especially in the afternoon hours. Day 2: Game Drive and Travel back to Kigali

After an early breakfast at the lodge you will set out for a game drive in Akagera National Park. This game drive takes 6-7 hours as you explore Akagera National Park looking out for wildlife sightings. Animals to look out for on the game drive include elephants, lions, buffaloes, zebras, topi, eland, roan antelope, sitatunga, warthogs, giraffes, impala, klipspringer, oribi, bohor reed buck, defassa water buck, olive baboons and vervet monkeys among others. In the midst of the game drive your driver guide will take you to the hippo pool in the park where hippos usually like to hang out. You can have a picnic lunch here as you watch the hippos and the beautiful scenery of the park. After this you continue and have one last game drive in the park before exiting. You then depart for Kigali arriving later in the day. You will be dropped off at your hotel in Kigali and this will mark the end of your 2 days wildlife safari. Meal Plan: Breakfast and Lunch
