Lugogo Mall : Places to shop in Kampala
Lugogo mall is one of the top places to shop in Kampala and a well-known mall and shopping center in Uganda. The mall is located in Nakawa, a suburb in Kampala city and is right opposite Kyadondo rugby grounds along Kampala – Jinja road. It is easily accessible for people who would like to shop items for family or personal use. The are a number of shopping areas at the mall which we explain in detail below. Lugogo mall is also a great stop before heading out for safari in Uganda as you can grab a cup of coffee or breakfast at one of the cafes at the mall.

Carrefour Market
Carrefour Lugogo is a supermarket and shopping center located at the entrance of the mall and is easily accessed from the the entrance opposite Kyadondo rugby grounds. The supermarket is a great one stop center for shopping as you can get almost everything that one would need while here. The market has different sections with different items, sections at the supermarket range from vegetables section, fruit section, a pastries section, a section for cooked food with an eating area, toiletries section, appliances section, a section with alcoholic drinks that include wines, beers and gin. Carrefour supermarket also has a section for fresh meats, cheese as well as other items that one would expect from a supermarket. Carrefour market is what we consider as one of the best places to shop at Lugogo mall as a variety of items are available making it easy for one to pick exactly what they need from one place.

Banana Boat
This is a craft shop located on the same lane as Carrefour market and is a great place to pick up souvenirs or gifts. Banana Boat also works well for first time visitors on safari to Uganda as you can stop here and purchase locally sourced African crafts. Banana Boat sells a number of African crafts, most of the items are locally sourced from Ugandan artisans and community centers. Items include beaded jewelry, handmade baskets, “Kitenge” table mats, “Kitenge shirts”, fridge magnets, handmade cards, wooden cooking spoons, plates, glasses and other great items. Banana Boat is one of the best craft shops in Kampala and their items are carefully selected and sourced so you will get the best when you shop here. The shop has another outlet located near Acacia mall.

China town Super store
China town super store is a large store located at Lugogo mall with home items and other goods that one would need for home. The super store is a recently opened store with a variety of items. Items at the store include bed sheets, duvets, yoga mats, camping equipment, TVs, bedside lamps, flower vases, jewelry, carpets, pillows, handbags, toilet bags, handbags, fans, plates, cups, electrical appliances like blenders, flat irons and hair dryers. China town is basically a great shopping area if you are in search of items for the home, this works well for someone who just moved into their house or to Kampala and is looking for a great place to shop items for their home. The prices at China town are generally lower than other areas that sell home essentials. Expect the place to be a bit busy with people coming in and out but you can always stop by in the morning hours (9am-11am) if you would like a shopping experience with less activity.

Miniso Lugogo
Miniso is a small shopping center with cute little items for sale and is known for having unique items that you would otherwise not find at other shopping centers in Kampala. Miniso is located at Lugogo mall and has a variety of items for sale. Miniso has items that include perfumes, cute water bottles, shoes, make up products, accessories like earrings, beach sandals, sun glasses, and beach hats among others. Miniso is a great place to stop if you are heading to let’s say the beach and need a few items like sandals, hats and sunglasses.
Just Kids
Just Kids is a kids shop located at Lugogo mall, the shop sells baby items and baby essentials. Just Kids is a great stop if you are a new mum looking to buy items for your baby or if you are simply looking to buy a friend who just gave birth items for their baby. The shop has a range of baby products that include milk bottles, baby clothes, diaper bags, baby toys, baby beddings, socks and other baby accessories. Just Kids is situated next to Miniso so both shopping areas are along the same line.

Aside from the above shopping areas Lugogo mall also has other shopping centers that sell electrical items like phone chargers, USB chargers and other electronics. One of these is a gadget shop that is located next to Just Kids. There is also an MTN service center that is next to Carrefour market, at the service center you can purchase a new Ugandan mobile SIM card and also find out more on their internet services. Remember to carry your passport or ID when visiting the MTN service center as it is one of the requirements if you are interesting in buying a mobile SIM card.

Shopping always goes hand in hand with eating and after a long day spent shopping one might like a place where they can stop by and eat. Below are the places where you can eat while at Lugogo mall;
Café Javas
Café Javas is one of the top cafes in Kampala and has a number of branches located at different areas in the city. The branch at Lugogo mall is one of the Café Javas outlets and is a good place to eat while at Lugogo mall. The café is located next to Carrfefour market and has sitting areas both inside and outside the café. The café serves breakfast meals, lunch and dinner. In addition the menu has snacks, appetizers, soups and starters. Drinks like mocktails, sodas, juices, coffee, and smoothies are available. Café Javas also works if you stay in nearby areas like Kololo and Naguru and are looking for a café to have a meeting.

Eating area at Carrefour Market
The eating area at Carrefour market is another place that you can eat. Basically how the eating area works is that you order for food from the kitchen section, pay for it at the counter and then walk back to the eating area where you find seats and eat. The seats are few and you have to be someone who is okay with eating in open spaces as the eating area is situated inside the supermarket.

Yummy Café and Ice cream shop
Yummy is a small café situated at Lugogo mall with limited seating areas. The café is known majorly for its ice cream section so a lot of people stop here, buy ice cream that they can have on the go as they shop. The ice cream section has a variety of ice cream flavors that include vanilla, chocolate, coffee, mango, cookies and cream and passion fruit among others. Yummy café also has a section that sells freshly baked bread and other pastries that include cookies, croissants, cakes and brownies.

There is ample car parking space at Lugogo mall so if you have a car you will definitely find a place to park it. The security guards are available at all entrances and will guide you well on where to pack. The Lugogo mall location makes it easily accessible from some of Kampala’s residential areas (Kololo, Naguru, Bukoto, Bugolobi, Nakasero) and you are also provided a safe place to park your car.
