The Address restaurant is a local food restaurant located in the midst of Fort Portal city in Uganda. The restaurant is situated along Rukidi III Street and is a newly opened establishment (opened in 2024). The restaurant serves delicious local food and is a great stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner. For visitors heading to parks like Kibale National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park or Semuliki National Park, usually you will have stop overs in Fort Portal for lunch. The stop over also gives you opportunity to stretch and break the journey if travelling from Kampala. The Address restaurant can act as a great stop for lunch if you are interested in a good local restaurant that serves delicious food.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition snacks, freshly made juices, tea and fizzy drinks like sodas are available. The address restaurant has an a la carte menu that you can use to order your meal of choice. The Address restaurant menu includes matoke (a staple food for Ugandan locals), akaro (millet bread which is a cultural meal for the people of Tooro Kingom), rice, sweet potatoes, boiled plantain locally known as “gonja”, sweet potatoes, irish potatoes, cassava, peas, beans, beef soup, goat’s meat soup, peanut sauce, fish, bean soup and smoked beef in peanut sauce.The restaurant has vegetarian options however these are limited, so if you are vegetarian you can order sauces/soups like beans and peas.

The menu also has snacks that include fried samosas, sausages, boiled eggs, chapatti and mandazi. These are usually served at breakfast as accompaniments for tea but can also be available throughout the day. At the time of our visit, the service was good and the staff is really friendly right from their reception staff to the waiters. The waiters are attentive and welcoming. We wanted to sit outside and they were kind enough to get us a table outside.

The food at the restaurant is delicious and fresh. It’s a great place to try out local food while on your safari in Uganda or visiting Fort Portal. Since its majorly a local food restaurant, more thought is put into the preparation of the local foods. Locals also frequent the restaurant making it ideal for someone who would like to eat and interact with the locals or see how they go about their day.

The food has different pricing so the cost depends on what you like and what you choose to order. The cost of snacks range from Ugx. 2000 – Ugx. 6000. The cost of local food at lunch and dinner time ranges from Ugx. 8000 – Ugx. 30,000.
Parking
The restaurant is located along a somewhat busy street so finding parking can be difficult, so bear this in mind when you visit. To make it easier you can park on a less busy street and then take a short walk to the restaurant. There is paid parking (Ugx.2000 per day) in Fort Portal city from Monday to Saturday, after leaving the restaurant there will be a small receipt on your car so make sure to clear the receipt before leaving.
The Address restaurant is currently one of the best restaurants in Fort Portal mainly because of the delicious local food and the great service from the waiters. It is a reasonably sized local food restaurant that is easily accessible.
