This 4 days safari combines two great experiences that is the gorilla trekking adventure in Rwanda and the golden monkey trek. Volcanoes national park is located in Musanze district and both these activities will be done in the park. Volcanoes national park also known as Parc National des Volcans is located in Northwestern Rwanda in Musanze district. The park is also known for stunning views of the Virunga Mountain ranges which it shares with Mgahinga Gorilla national park in Uganda and Virunga National park in Democratic Republic of Congo. The park has 5 of the Virunga volcanoes which are Bisoke, Gahinga, Karisimbi, Muhavura and Sabyinyo.

Tour Plan
On this day you will be picked up from your hotel by your driver guide. You then start the travel journey to Volcanoes national park in Musanze district. The drive takes you through the beautiful scenery of Rwanda that is referred to as “the land of a thousand hills.”On arrival you check in to the lodge, have lunch and spend the rest of the day relaxing.

Breakfast at the lodge in the morning will prepare you for the gorilla trekking adventure in Rwanda today. Your driver guide will transfer you to the park offices where you will have a cup of Rwandan coffee and then receive a briefing from your ranger guide. You then are allocated a gorilla family after which you begin your trek. If your starting point is away from the park office your driver guide will drive you to the starting point. When you locate the gorillas you get to spend 1 hour with them where you watch them in their natural habitat and take photos during this time. The gorilla trek is a rewarding activity that brings you closer to these endangered species. After this you trek back to the starting point, here you meet your guide who will then take you back to the lodge.

The golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes national park is a great way to experience the primates of this park aside from the mountain gorilla trek. After breakfast this morning you will head to the starting point for this trek. The golden monkeys are active monkeys and a beautiful sight to see as they hop around in the forest and feed on bamboo shoots, which must be their favorite delicacy. The golden monkeys offer great photo moments and a unique experience with these primates. Visitors are allowed to spend one hour with them.
In the afternoon visit the Iby’Iwacu cultural village which is a great way to experience the way of the life of the Rwandans as you get a look in to their culture, traditions and norms. The cultural visit can be done after your gorilla trek depending on what time you return. While at the cultural village you will visit the traditional medicine man, be entertained by the traditional dances which you are free to join in and you visit the king’s palace where you can be dressed as a Queen or King for the day.
