2 Day Lake Mburo Wildlife Safari

Overview

This wildlife safari takes you to Lake Mburo National Park, the smallest savanna park in Uganda. The drive from Kampala is relatively short (3 ½ – 4 hours’ drive) making it a perfect safari option if you have few days in the country.

The park offers excellent game viewing across the vast savanna plains, wildlife to look out for while in the park include zebras, topis, giraffes, buffaloes, eland warthogs, bush bucks, common duiker, oribi and other antelope species. There is only one lion resident in the park hence chances of seeing lions cannot be guaranteed, leopard and hyena is also present but these are mainly nocturnal animals that can be best seen on a night game drive. Crocodiles, hippos and several water bird species can be seen while on a boat cruise on Lake Mburo. Below is a detailed itinerary of the trip;

Tour Plan

Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Lake Mburo national park, short game drive and Boat ride on Lake Mburo

Your day will start with pick up by your driver guide from your hotel in Kampala/Entebbe. You then start the journey to the park passing through Uganda’s small trading centers and towns getting a look in to the daily life of the locals. On arrival you will go on a short game drive in the park with your driver guide as you search for some wildlife in the park. In the afternoon you will go on a boat ride on Lake Mburo, take in the cool breeze of the lake as you spot crocodiles, hippos, other animals as they come to the lake to drink water and several species of water birds. Your day will end with you transferring to the lodge for dinner. Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Travel back to Kampala

After your breakfast at the lodge you will set out in to the park for an early morning game drive. Animals that can be seen while on the game drive include buffaloes, topis, zebras, giraffes, impala, oribi and hippos. You will also sight different species of birds in the park and have amazing views of the vast landscape of Lake Mburo National Park. After you end your fulfilling game drive you will then travel back to Kampala with a stopover at the equator monument where you will take photos and have lunch. On arrival your driver guide will take you back to your hotel in Kampala/Entebbe. Meal Plan: Breakfast and Lunch
